Behind every happy marriage is a lot of hard work. That’s even the case with Hailey and Justin Bieber.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the model talked openly about her relationship with the singer, crediting their mutual effort as the reason why they love spending time together. “He’s still the person that I want to be rushing back to,” the beauty entrepreneur told the publication. “I might fly somewhere and go do a job, but I can’t wait to come back and hang out. And I feel like that’s because of the effort that’s been put in on both sides. At the end of the day, he’s my best friend, but it still does take a lot of work to make it work. And then I know, eventually, when kids come into the picture, that’s going to be a whole other season of navigating how to make that work.”
The Biebers’ relationship was put to the test in 2022 when both of them suffered from health scares. In March 2022, the Rhode Skin founder experienced a blood clot to her brain, resulting in stroke-like symptoms. A few months later, the “Changes” singer was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which caused facial paralysis.
Hailey believes these events helped strengthen their marriage because the duo realized they would always support one another through the ups and downs. “You don’t figure things out and get married but rather get married and figure things out,” she explained to the magazine. “I just think life is changing all the time—day to day, week to week, year to year. I think a perfect example of that is over the last six months, both of us have gone through very serious health scares. You have to figure out how to deal with this s**t as it comes, you know? There’s a reason they say, ‘for better or for worse.’”
The duo got engaged in July 2018. Two months later, they tied the knot during a courthouse wedding in New York City. In September 2019, the two swapped vows a second time in South Carolina. We can’t wait to watch the couple continue to grow in their roles as husband and wife.
