A few days following the release of her eighth studio album, Demi Lovato opened up about wanting to start a family on Aug. 22.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lovato shared some realizations about her life and music-making process.
A few days after celebrating her 30th birthday, the “29” singer was excited to be her authentic self, “It feels so good to just be completely authentic in what makes me happy, to perform and sing, and I’m just really, really excited about it.”
Her newest studio album “Holy Fvck” shows a side of Lovato she has always wanted to show fans and audiences. “Holy Fvck” bares such contrast to her previous album “Dancing with the Devil… the Art of Starting Over,” released the year earlier.
“I’m back to my roots and I’m no longer performing in little leotards and in stilettos, you know, trying to be someone I thought people wanted from me,” she told ET.
“Now I just get to be myself — my genuine, authentic self — and perform the songs that I want to perform.”

Turning 30 and releasing an album that speaks of her soul, Lovato reflected about her 20s and the possibilities of her future now that she has learned to embrace her true self.
“I’ve really figured out who I am […] “I say that a lot, every time I get older, but it’s like I’ve never felt so sure of myself and grounded,” the “Cool For The Summer” singer.
Asked about her bucket list, she says it is no longer things like jumping out of a plane-which she’s already done-but more about family, “Things like having a family is really important to me […] It’s the substance of life.”
Lovato has struggled with her mental health and substance use, making trips to rehab in the past. But it seems that she’s finally on the road to recovery.
“I’ve been through a lot, you know, and I’m really proud of myself. And sometimes I look in the mirror and I just say, ‘I am so proud of you. You’re doing great, and I love you’,” she said.
Aside from a new album, Lovato also has a new beau. She was seen celebrating her 30th birthday with Jute$, a day after they confirmed their relationship.
In May, Lovato talked about becoming a parent, “I don’t know. I used to really want that, and then, as I’m approaching my 30s without children, it’s pretty nice. I have maternal instincts, I love my animals, and I used to really think that one day I would love to be a parent.”
Perhaps Lovato’s change of heart could be attributed to her new love. Jute$, or Jordan Lutes, a Canadian musician, has also helped Lovato with music. He co-wrote “Substance” with Lovato, a song about her addiction struggle.
She has dedicated “4 EVER 4 ME” to Jute$ and he also seems to be equally in love with the singer as he called himself the “luckiest schmuck in the world.”
