Queen Elizabeth II and Shakira got close in 2020
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday.
Following her death, many anecdotes from the British monarch’s life have come to light, such as the day she asked Cristiano Ronaldo for an autographed shirt after his return to Manchester United.
Shakira and Prince William were involved in creating one of the most ambitious environmental awards in history, as they look to inspire creative solutions for the world’s environmental issues.
It’s while working on the Earthshot Prize Council that Shakira came into contact with the British monarchy.

LAFC’s Gareth Bale shared the following comment regarding Her Majesty’s passing: “Heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. Rest in peace Her Majesty.”
David Beckham, owner of MLS club Inter Miami, wrote a message accompanied by a series of photographs.
“I’m truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen,” he wrote.
“What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service. How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world.
“How much she inspired us with her leadership. How she comforted us when times were tough. Until her last days she served her country with dignity and grace,” he added.
“This year she would have known how loved she was,” Beckham penned as he conveyed his “thoughts and prayers” to the Royal Family.”
