TV icon Henry Winkler was in attendance because he was nominated for his role in the HBO series Barry. He took home his first Emmy in 2018, after being nominated many times throughout his career.
In most of his scenes, Winkler pays tribute to his mentor Garry Marshall by wearing his tie. As most know, Marshall created the sitcom Happy Days, in which Winkler starred as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli.

PEOPLE & Entertainment Weekly Red Carpet Live caught up with Winkler and was asked about his relationship with Happy Days co-star Ron Howard, saying they talk “all the time.”
One of the hosts mentioned that the tabloids made it seem that they did not get along, and Winkler put those rumors to rest!
“He is like my brother, even though we are 10 years apart. He has great wisdom. He has great warmth,” Winkler said. “He has great ability. And I have loved him from the minute that I met him.”

Winkler also divulged in something Howard told him while he was frustrated with a Happy Days script.
“I was on the set. I’m hitting my script because I’m from New York and I can’t make the joke work,” Winkler recalled. “He took me around my shoulder, walked me to the back of the soundstage. He said, ‘You know, the writers are working as hard as they can. I wouldn’t hit our script.’ I said, ‘Ron, I will never hit it again as long as I live.’”
